Ari Rief, Esq.

Ari joined Tenant Law Group in August 2023 as Trial Counsel. Both a former criminal defense attorney and felony prosecutor, Ari is a highly skilled courtroom advocate and negotiator who has tried thirty cases to verdict before a jury. He now exclusively helps tenants pursue civil actions against landlords for wrongful and illegal acts that breach tenants' rights.

Prior to joining Tenant Law Group, Ari spent over seven years as the owner and principal attorney of Rief Legal, a criminal defense practice with some civil litigation. He handled felonies, including murder, kidnap, three strikes, gang, narcotics, and embezzlement cases, as well as hundreds of misdemeanor cases, many court-appointed through the San Mateo County Private Defender Program. Before opening his practice, he worked as a Deputy District Attorney at the Amador County District Attorney’s Office and the Santa Barbara County District Office. He also has prior civil litigation experience working at a plaintiff’s consumer rights firm.

Ari earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UCLA and his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Outside of work, Ari enjoys time with his family, chess, reading, and playing basketball.
