You May Just Be The Person We’re Looking For.

We are a fast-growing 100% virtual tenant rights law firm that helps California tenants who have been illegally evicted, discriminated against, harassed, or forced to endure uninhabitable living conditions recover money from their landlords. We are seeking to hire a rock star Director of Operations who can hit the ground running.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Operations to serve as second-in-command and senior execution leader.  This role reports directly to the CEO and functions as the firm’s operational general manager.

The Director of Operations is responsible for translating strategy into execution, enforcing operational discipline, and driving firm-wide performance through systems, metrics, and accountability.

The primary mandate of this role is profitability.

The Director of Operations will optimize existing systems—not build from scratch—but elevate them to a higher level of precision, predictability, and leverage.

This role will directly supervise department leaders (approximately three direct reports initially) and influence the performance of the entire organization.

What You Will Be Accountable For

  • Firm profitability and margin expansion
  • Capacity modeling tied to revenue targets
  • Throughput improvement across case portfolios
  • KPI consistency and dashboard discipline
  • Operational forecasting accuracy
  • AI integration into core workflows
  • Execution of the firm’s business plan

  • You will identify bottlenecks.
    You will redesign systems.
    You will enforce standards.
You will partner with the CEO on strategic decisions grounded in data—not intuition.

Key Priorities in the First 6–12 Months

  • Reverse profit margin compression.
  • Increase case throughput without increasing chaos.
  • Standardize and enforce operational KPIs.
  • Elevate the firm’s AI usage from tool adoption to embedded infrastructure.

We are currently operating at an intermediate level of AI integration.  We expect you to bring proven experience implementing AI into operational workflows and to move the organization higher—systematically, responsibly, and measurably.

Ideal Background

We are looking for a disciplined operator with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Data-driven corporate operator with P&L ownership
  • EOS Integrator or similar second-in-command role
  • Leader in a professional services firm
  • Startup scaler with structured operational maturity

Law firm experience is optional.  Experience in a professional services environment is preferred.

You must have:

  • Direct P&L management experience
  • Experience building forecasting systems tied to operational throughput
  • Experience engineering capacity models tied to revenue targets
  • Comfort supervising senior team members
  • Experience implementing AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar into real workflows
  • Strong comfort with metrics, dashboards, and financial data

You should be methodical, structured, and steady.  We are not looking for reckless scaling.  We are looking for operational discipline that compounds over time.

Compensation

Base salary: $125,000 per year (W-2 employee)

Profit sharing: Formula-based percentage of firm profitability.  No cap. Potential for multiple six-figure total compensation tied directly to performance.

This is a full-time position requiring availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

Benefits

  • 100% remote work
  • State-of-the-art firm-issued computer and telecommunications equipment
  • Open (unlimited) paid time off
  • Ten paid holidays per year
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance beginning within sixty days of full-time employment
  • Paid sick leave in accordance with state law
  • 401(k) retirement plan with mandatory employer contribution
  • Professional growth and executive development opportunities

Limited travel may be required for annual Executive Planning (typically October) and select industry conferences (1–2 per year).

Personal Characteristics

If the following describe you, you may be our Director of Operations:

  • You prioritize results over comfort.
  • You are calm under pressure and decisive when necessary.
  • You hold yourself and others to measurable standards.
  • You are not threatened by numbers.
  • You see AI as leverage, not hype.
  • You are comfortable making difficult personnel recommendations.
  • You think in systems, not tasks.
  • You are allergic to KPI ambiguity.
  • You believe profitability and mission are not in conflict.

This role is not about managing feelings.  It is about building a durable, profitable organization that can serve more tenants at scale.
