Frequently Asked Questions
Since we are a paperless office, we prefer to receive all documents in electronic format. The preferred electronic format is pdf.
To convert documents and emails to pdf on a Windows computer, open the document, select “Print,” select “Microsoft Print to PDF” as the printer, and, when prompted, rename and save your file. For more on converting documents and emails to pdfs in Windows 10, visit http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-convert-documents-to-pdf-in-windows-10-without-apps/.
To convert documents and emails to pdf on an Apple Macintosh computer, select “Save as PDF,” choose a destination for your new document, and click “Save.” For more on converting documents and emails to pdfs on an Apple Macintosh computer, visit http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-print-to-pdf-in-mac-os-x/.
Once converted, you can either upload the pdfs to the secure shared Microsoft OneDrive folder or email them to docs@tenantlawgroupsf.com.
Our office uses a specific naming convention that allows us to easily sort documents electronically. This convention is as follows: “YYYY-MM-DD – File Name” (excluding the quotation marks). E.g., “2016-12-30-Email from John Doe to Jane Doe.” Our staff can convert all electronic files you provide to this specific naming convention if it is too much trouble for you to do so.
A simpler option is to forward the emails to docs@tenantlawgroupsf.com This option is less ideal because we must remove the forwarding information at the top of the email before sharing the document with opposing parties. However, our goal is to make this process as easy for you as possible, so please feel free to forward the emails to us if that is more convenient for you.
For iPhones, we recommend the app “Messages & SMS Export to PDF,” which is available for free at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/messages-sms-export-to-pdf/id1241178802 or on your iPhone in the App Store. A more time consuming method is to take screenshots. To do so, when the text message(s) you wish to capture are on the screen, hold the power button and menu button at the same time. This will take a photo of the message. Whichever method you utilize, please forward the pdf or screenshots to docs@tenantlawgroupsf.com.
For Android devices, we recommend the app “SMS Backup, Print & Restore -Export PDF, HTML, CSV,” which is available for free at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gilapps.smsshare2&hl=en_US or in the Google Play Store. Once exported, please forward the pdf to docs@tenantlawgroupsf.com.
